How about a fun evening of dancing and socializing while supporting the
growth of outdoor learning in the Shuswap? Here is the scoop:
The Shuswap Outdoor Learning Foundation
Dance, Fundraiser, Silent Auction, and Gear Swap
Friday, September 30, 2016
7:30pm at the SASCU Recreation Centre
Tickets $20 available at ReMax
One of the Southern Interior's hottest groups, Jon Treichel's Scattered
Atoms Blues Band, returns! Their funky sounds offer a mix of classic blues,
R&B, and a little old school rock-and-roll that keeps dancers shaking all
night long!
All funds raised will go to support the work of the Shuswap Outdoor Learning
Foundation which provides nature-connection programming for schools,
families, and through their "Wild Wonders" summer camps.
We are only printing 200 tickets and we are anticipating a sell-out again
this year for the fundraiser. You can order tickets from me or tickets are
also available at ReMax Shuswap (1111 Lakeshore Dr. SW, Salmon Arm.)
GEAR SWAP DETAILS
Our gear swap is meant to get all that quality used gear (which you haven't yet put up online) out of basements, sheds and storage rooms and into the hands of others who need it. Types of gear we will be accepting will be:
- camping gear such as tents, thermarests, sleeping bags, backpacks, pots/pans, stoves etc.
- kids' outdoor gear such as rain jackets, quality boots, hats, backpacks etc.
- outside-with-kids gear like strollers, Chariots, child backpacks, pup tents etc.
- getting-around gear from Spring to Fall like bikes (incl. accessories), kayaks, canoes and paddle boards
- adult outdoor wear
Gear we will not be accepting:
- any gear in rough shape or very well used (like frayed climbing rope;)
- clothing for adults (jackets are an exception)
- footwear for adults
Please drop off your gear at the SASCU Rec Center between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on Friday, September 30th. You will be asked to fill out a small tag that identifies your name, the item, and your asking price. Please note that 20% of the sale price will be donated to The Shuswap Outdoor Learning Foundation to support programming that connects children to nature in the Shuswap area such as the Shuswap Wild Wonders camps. Cash or cheque only.
Any items that are not bought that night can be picked up at 10:00pm at the Rec Center, or between 10:00 and 11:00 am at Bastion Elementary School Saturday, October 1st. If you are bringing large items like bikes, canoes or chariots, we would ask that you pick them up the night of the 30th please.
